After Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, Canada, which included many officials, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the sanction list, responded from Russia. In a written statement made by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that 313 people, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly and Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand, were placed on the sanctions list.

“This step was taken in response to the extreme hostility of the current Canadian regime, which is imperative and has tested our patience for so long. “Whether it’s attacks on Russian diplomatic missions, the closure of airspace, or the de facto severing of bilateral economic ties to the detriment of Canada, it will inevitably receive a determined response.”

While listing the names of Canadian lawmakers and officials included in the sanctions list on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the said persons were banned from entering Russia.

“President Putin has chosen to advance his illegal and unjust invasion. He can also choose to end it by immediately ending the senseless violence and withdrawing his forces. Canada will not hesitate to take further steps if the Russian leadership does not change course,” Joly said.
